Franklin Go Away!

Sorry everyone about the absense of posts about tropical storm Franklin. Anyway, it is now moving out to sea, but not without first giving tropical storm conditions to extreme south Newfoundland. This storm just does not want to go away! But, we now have a new entity around the northern Leeward Islands. Read more below:

Forecasters plan to send a hurricane hunter aircraft into a budding system in the Atlantic.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami said a vigorous tropical wave over the northern Leeward Islands has become better organized overnight with slowly falling surface pressures and more concentrated shower and thunderstorm activity.

Forecasters said a tropical depression could form Friday or Saturday as it moves toward the west-northwest at about 20 mph.

The hurricane center said interests in and near the northern Leeward Islands, the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Hispaniola should closely monitor the progress of this system.

Meanwhile, a westward-moving tropical wave is about 900 miles east of the Windward Islands. Shower and thunderstorm activity remains limited and there are no signs of organization at this time.
